TERMINOLOGY USAGE:
The word African specifically relates to the indigenous people of the African continent and the African Diaspora. The race-nationality model such as African-American, African-Brazilian and African-Caribbean communities more accurately describes the identity whilst fully articulating the history and geo-political reality of African people globally. The reference to the term ‘Black' used within this site or the documentary is a limited colloquial political term. Under no circumstances is it consider by the producers a valid ethnic or racial term for African people in any historical or geographic sense. Other terminologies, which are considered out-dated and pejorative, are ‘Tribe', 'Sub-Saharan Africa', or 'black Africa '. |
